“Great accommodation overlooking South Parklands.”

Easy walking distance to CBD. Or catch a tram or bus after a short walk. Staff most welcoming and helpful. A comfortable hotel. Breakfast was well catered for. Hotel on quiet South Terrace overlooking the South Parklands. Catch a team into the CBD or go to Glenelg beach

“Better than expected”

We were very surprised by the standard of service and size of room for the price! Very clean, lovely view, coffee machine in room. Location wise - it's not in the centre of everything - but sometimes that's a good thing! As parking is so accessible and only $5!!!! Beautiful views of the park and hills - lots of restaurants close by - try the Thai Chef!!! Highly recommended

“Great location and great value for money.”

Good: The rooms were comfortable & the staff so accommodating. Breakfasts were great & the restaurants dinner menu superb. The hotel is in a lovely location on South Terrace near parklands, free tram into city centre or short walk. Tram stop to Glenelg Beach & bus stop to Hahndorf just 2 minutes walk from hotel. Amazing. We will definitely stay again!

“Pleasing property”

Well located.Walk to to tram 5-10 mins to go to the ocean or the city. Hotel was very accommodating of an early check in well before normal time Lady on desk greeted with a smile very efficient .Rooms looking east was great with view of hills and parklands. If any critic maybe some more regular cleaning of balconies from visiting pigeons leaving their mark.Personally found breakfast expensive.Love the buffet but $15.00 seems excessive for the continental range which was limited.Whilst the buffet hot at $25.00 would have been nice to have feel it be nice to have maybe a discount for hotel guests or pricing maybe to be around the $12.00 for continental or $18.00 for hot.We would have had it daily rather than just the once.Longer hrs on weekends to would have been good rather than the 10am strict finish.Parking for $5.00 in city great value though is free overnight on the street outside or on weekends after 12pm but good value.Happy to return

“Good place, noisy Aircon.”

Bad: Air-conditioners Outside unitsmade a noise like a turbofan from a 747. This resonated into the rooms very Strongly . I suggest a sound engineer listens to every one of those buggers. Lost sleep due to this, and made the room uncomfortable. This was likely my unit, and neighbouring units. It’s hard to tell when this constant throne provides the very room. Even the floor vibrated.Good place, noisy Aircon. And I was on the top floor, so no units above me. I was in room 1110

“Footy weekend”

Good: location Bad: starting to get a little tired in the bathrooms - could do with some minor renovations here and there Location Tip: opposite parklands, close by to tram station, Shopping district within walking distance, food outlets/restaurants within 100 metres. Room is a good size and bed very comfortable. Great location - just on the edge of the CBD which makes for a quick getaway to the suburbs. Staff always very friendly and efficient. Went to Adelaide for footy weekend - hotel just up the road from the tram which takes you to Adelaide Oval - very handy :)

“Nice stay”

Been a while since I stayed here last - in fact, it was the Grand Chiefly then - so thought I'd stay here again as since then it appears renovations had taken place, the price was right for an Executive room and the location was good (as I was seeing a show at the Festival Theatre, the free tram within walking distance of both was very convenient). Was quite happy with the room, the bed was quite comfortable with pillows that weren't overly objectionable (I am super picky about pillows and these were near enough to what I like - nice and high but a touch firm for my taste). However more blankets in the room would have been nice - there was one extra provided, and another would have been nice as it was cold at night. The room had a desk with a comfortable desk chair and a nice lounge chair with a foot rest. Views from the balcony of the city and the hills were lovely. Earlier in the evening I heard some noise from another room, but during sleeping hours I heard nothing – no noise from other rooms, no traffic noise – making for a peaceful night’s sleep. Bathroom was quite nice, although this room (like most at this hotel seem to) has the shower over bath which may be an issue for some people. Good water pressure in the shower, so no complaints there. Liquid hand soap provided in a little tube which was nice. Odd choice of toiletries though - parsley stem, purple kale and chia seed would not be the first choices I would make for toiletry scents. The room had an air conditioner, but it was the most brain-dead unit I've ever had the misfortune to use. It seemed to only really care about the temperature in the area directly in front of it. So, while it was nice and warm if I sat on the chair in front of the air conditioner, the rest of the room would remain chilly and heat much slower as a result. It also had a habit of running for a couple of minutes, stopping, and then starting again. It did seem to be an older unit made by a company I'd never heard of before, so hopefully there are plans to replace it with something a bit better behaved. There was no in room mini bar, but there were selections of snacks and drinks available at reception that could be purchased - I didn't partake, however a price list was in room and prices were what I'd expect from a mini bar. A coffee pod machine was also available in room with some pods and instructions on how to use, but I didn't use that as I'm not a coffee drinker. Wifi was pretty good considering I was at the far end of a hall (which is usually where wifi has issues in hotels) and it was free. I was able to watch YouTube and browse the internet with no issues. Parking is a very reasonable $5 per night onsite (I think this is one of the, if not the, cheapest prices for parking at a hotel in the CBD), however the carpark can be a tight fit, not helped one night by an inconsiderate driver deciding that parking in a marked park was to passé for them and instead parking in a roadway, causing a slight nuisance. One minor issue I had was that the housekeeping, while good, was a bit odd. Upon checking in, I noticed that the smoke detector in the room was covered in some kind of plastic, something that I am surprised was not noticed when the room was being made up. Unsure if this was meant to be the case, I checked with reception as I was leaving for the evening who confirmed that this was not meant to be, and they rectified it. After the second night, I also noticed that all the towels had been changed in my room despite leaving the towels I used on the towel rails which the sign in the bathroom said would result in them not being changed. All in all, I was quite satisfied with my stay here and would stay here again, minor housekeeping issues aside. Everything I usually look for in a hotel was there and to a pretty good standard

“Holiday in Adelaide staying at the Sage”

Wonderful week spewing Adelaide staying at the Sage hotel on south terrace. Lovely clean and welcoming hotel. The staff are helpful the restaurant has a great selection for breakfast and the dinner menu is also excellent. Iris on the out edge of the CBD but the free tram into the CBD is just a short walk away. The shower is over the bath and this could be an issue for some people. “Good Value Hotel”

The Sage Hotel is on the southern fringe of the Adelaide CBD, but within comfortable walking distance of most things, including the tram, which will take you to the northern edge of the CBD, and its free. The hotel itself is the re-badged Grand Chifley, quite small, but clean & comfortable rooms and good bathroom. The on-site restaurant is quite good, or there are plenty of good choices close by

Good: The hotel is situated on the outer fringes of the city but has ample parking for a very good rate. The hotel overlooks parkland which is lovely. The room was very big, the bed and pillows very comfortable. The bathroom was large, modern and exceptionally clean. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. “Super Sage”

A great place to stay. The rooms were spacious and very, very comfortable. The room has a desk, sofa, balcony, coffee machine and big bathroom and the view of the park from the balcony and the buffet was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 day stay as it was easy walk to free bus and tram routes and close to amenities. Close to the Chocolate Factory, eateries and all our tours collected us from the foyer. I also left my phone charger when I left and they have promised to post it to me! We could find no fault and would recommend this accommodation to all!

“Exceptionally comfortable, convenient, hospitable”

We arrived way before check-in time, but the receptionist said our room was ready for us. What a relief, after the long flight, to sink into the comfy king-sized bed! It was a spacious room, with a balcony that faced a lovely park and the Adelaide Hills. There were two big armchairs, a large desk, a room safe, a nespresso machine (both regular and decaf capsules),a good hair dryer and large mirrors! The bathroom had both long bath and rain shower. There was also a host of extra pillows and blankets of differing weight. Everything was spotlessly clean. The room fridge only contained creamer for the coffee, but two fridges near the reception are well-stocked with a good selection of well-priced drinks and snacks (sandwiches, cut fruit, etc). There is also a cafe and 24-hr room service. Wi-fi is free, but not very strong, as for many hotels in Adelaide. We often opted for our own data ($10 sim). We often left our car in the car park ($5 per day) and used the free tram for trips to Rundle Mall and the Festival Hall. This tram (400m walk away) also goes to Glenelg (ticket needed). Nearby are some restaurants, small cafes and pubs, with live music. We stayed 5 delightful days here, with a one day break in between (to Barossa), leaving our luggage with them. I would stay here again without a second thought - the only thing that would have made my stay more delightful, would be light chairs or stools that I could borrow so we could have my drinks on the balcony. How about it next time, Sage?

Good: Erg fijne, luxe kamer met een heerlijk bed. De badkamer was ook erg prettig! Heb zeer genoten van het bad. Het personeel bij de receptie was zeer vriendelijk. “A very pleasant stay”

This was my first stay at The Sage Hotel and I was not disappointed. There was a 5 minute wait to check-in but once served, it was done quickly. We had Executive Room #1007 on the 10th floor near the lifts. The room was a decent size with a king size bed, desk, armchair, and a balcony. The room looked towards the Eastern suburbs and the Mount Lofty Ranges. The bed and pillows were comfortable and I had a good sleep but my partner didn't like the pillows. The coffee pod machine was a welcome addition along with a kettle with plentiful tea and coffee. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant. The main meals were cooked to perfection although I found them to be a little overpriced. The dessert (brandy snap basket) had a slightly bitter taste like it had been burnt. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel and would definitely stay here again. The only downside was that there are not a lot of places to eat that are within walking distance but the hotel is relatively close to public transport if you don't have a car

“No-nonsense comfort and convenience”

There's a lot going on down the north end of Adelaide's square mile, which could make the south end more appealing for some visitors. Swap the neon lights, bars, clubs and pubs of Hindley and Rundle streets for the parkland serenity of South Terrace. The Sage Hotel is not the newest hotel in town and has had several names over the years, (most recently Grand Chifley) but it does occupy a great location overlooking the expansive south parklands and for most times of the day is relatively quiet, certainly compared to the hustle and bustle at the opposite end of town. The rooms are larger than most for this vintage of hotel and recent refurbishments have added new life into the premises, bringing rooms and décor up to date to with competing properties in this price range. Great WiFi, big flatscreen TVs and private balconies are a welcome touch. There is ample off-street parking and if you'd rather get some green under your feet instead of the treadmill, the huge parklands are just great for jogs or power walks. The only meal I had was breakfast and it's a very satisfactory open-seating arrangement common in 3 and 4 star properties. The breakfast selection, likewise, contained all the ingredients expected in both hot and continental buffets. The self-serve coffee machine produces surprisingly good coffee even if you have to wait a moment in the queue. I used this hotel for a single night before setting out on tour, and for this purpose it was ideal. While there are one or two decent pubs within a block or two if you want to get out, it's mostly shut down at night. Having said that, the nearby private school does produce some traffic snarls around home time and there is some rush hour congestion on South Terrace. But remember, this is Adelaide, not New York City. Pricing is extra keen and if your timing is right, online booking can produce super deals making it easy to overlook any minor shortcomings

“Spacious rooms overlooking park”

We stayed 3 nights and found the hotel quiet and reasonably central. It has magnificent views of the parklands and the hills. The room was very large with a good TV and foxtel and a nespresso machine as well as a huge wardrobe. It is a short walk to King William St. and the tram to Glenelg or the city. The historic Pulteney Grammar is next door withh magnicent ovals across the road

“Nice Business Trip Hotel”

Lovely hotel, very clean and friendly staff. Stayed for a business trip for a few days, hotel was more than accommodating of holding my bag before I checked in and then after I checked out. Would highly recommend if you need a nice place to stay near the CBD and in a quiet location

“Exceptional”

Good: Thre room was great as was the view. The staff were all lovely, the restaurant was great for breakfast and dinner. Bad: Our veranda was covered with pigeons so we did not like to leave the door open and because of this the two rooms next to us could not be used

“Family Friendly Hotel in a Great Location”

The family rooms were very spacious and comfortable, right across from a terrific parklands area for children and also perfect for that morning run. A short walk into the city and close to some restaurants and Haighs Chocolate Factory. Loved the grab and go bar downstairs and the parking rates were extremely reasonable
