Fort Scratchley, a former coastal defence installation, is now a museum. It is located in Newcastle East, and was built in 1882 to defend the city against a possible Russian attack. Undoubtedly Newcastle's most spectacular vantage point, Fort Scratchley Historic Site offers unrivaled panoramic views across the Pacific Ocean.

Take a tour of Christ Church Cathedral and discover its rich history. A survivor of the Japanese submarine attack of WWII and the 1989 Newcastle Earthquake, Christ Church Cathedral is now a fully restored masterpiece in the heart of Newcastle.

Newcastle Ocean Baths

Newcastle Ocean Baths has a long history as popular swimming spots. With its distinctive and architecturally significant Art Deco pavilion, Newcastle Ocean Baths is one of the city's outstanding historic landmarks, and is a popular informal open air studio for amateur photographers too.

Take a dip in the Bogey Hole, also known as the Commandant's Baths, a heritage-listed sea bath on Newcastle's coastline. You can choose to stay in a picnic spot, join a guided tour, or appreciate the wildlife exhibits and incredible encounters with various kinds of animals. Entrance is free - you only have to pay for parking. The walking tracks inside the reserve are also a great way to get fit
