Known affectionately by the locals as the "Old Wollongong Lighthouse", this decommissioned historic landmark stands on the end of the southern breakwater of Wollongong Harbour. Built in 1871, it was listed as a heritage building in 2000 and was restored to its full glory in 2002. It continues to shine as a beacon to the community changing colours to support local & national charity.
Our classic coastal living is shared with our guests. Behind our neighbours lies surf & sand. An early morning jog, an evening stroll or a cheeky swim are perfectly doable. Local eateries pepper the beachfront so grab a bite while you're out there.
Port Kembla Beach, regarded as one of Wollongong's most prestigious beaches, is another must-go destination. The surf club, perched on the high fore dune, was established in 1910, with bathing at Port Kembla Beach dating back to the 1900s and the first dressing sheds erected in 1912. There's also a large Olympic-sized salt water pool on the northern rocks.
Golfers out there, check out the Russell Vale Golf Course, just 15 minutes' drive from the hotel and boasting a commanding escarpment position with panoramic views of Illawarra’s coastline. Go to www.russellvalegolfclub.com.au for further information.
Whether it's sailing, waterskiing, canoeing or fishing that rocks your boat, Lake Illawarra is the perfect place to experience the great outdoors.
