Just five minutes drive away is New Farm Park in Brunswick. You’ll find it the perfect spot for a picnic or a leisurely afternoon. Occupying approximately 37ha of land, the park has something for all. The New farm playground consists of a fort like tree-house with heaps of lovely shade as well as an extensive bridge walk that winds like a hobbit trail through the aging fig trees that abound the park. The Brisbane River offers great views and the large plain grass grounds is ideal for kite flying or bike riding.
The highly popular food destination has relocated and reopened to even larger success at its new location in North Shore. Inspired by the night time food markets in Asia, Eat Street Markets offer excellent food in a very casual, outdoor venue. Open Friday and Saturday nights between 4pm and 10pm, and on Sundays, 11am to 7pm, all year round.
About 20km from Brisbane CBD is the Moreton Bay region. Take a drive along the mountain roads, stop off at a winery or head seaward to spot dolphins, meet local wildlife or simply spend a lazy evening near the water.
If you're after local design pieces, check out Dinosaur Designs. Resin pieces are made by hand in their Sydney studio; it’s at the heart of what Olsen and Ormandy do. Each bowl, vessel and piece of jewellery is a 3D poem that can be read by touch.
